Special Adaptations
1. The Black Emperor Scorpion contains venom glands and is compacted in a curved stinger.
2. Black Emperor Scorpions reflect ultraviolet light so their skin becomes a color of blue mixed with green.

Evolution
Evolution is the change over time of a species. It actually means a change in allele frequency. An allele is the variation of a trait. Allele frequency is the amount of traits expressed in a population. Allele frequency can change in four ways, mutation, genetic drift (gene flow), Migration, and Natural selection.
Types of Evolution
Mutation is when new allele's are created which causes the DNA to change and that results with a difference in the allele. Genetic Drift involves a random change in allele frequency. For instance, the founder effect, which consist of moving to a new area. Also, pop bottleneck and that is when a natural disaster happens creating change in allele. Migration is when a group of individuals move from one population to another and makes a new allele frequency. Natural selection is when organisms who are best suited to the environment survive and reproduce, "survival of the fittest". Three things must be met for natural selection to occur. They are variety, genes passes on, and differential reproductive success. There are also three types of natural selection. The first is Stabilizing selection. This is when the environment supports the medium trait. The second is Direction selection and this when the environment supports either extreme, meaning two traits. The third type of section is when the environment supports both extremes.
Evidence of Evolution
There is a wide range of evidence that shows evolution has occurred with most organisms. For example, today scientist use the fossil record to show past organisms and how organisms have changed. There are two ways to tell how old a fossil is, relative dating and exact dating. Relative dating is a process that scientist uses to determine the relative order of events and not it's exact age. Exact dating is much different. This is when scientist receive a geological age by examining the radioactive parent and daughter isotope, also known as radiometric dating.
Evolution in Scorpions
The scorpion is known to be 430 million years old based on the fossils found by scientist. Scorpions have evolved much differently to maintain survival. In the past, scorpions used to have gills instead of book lungs to swim in the water. In fact, there used to be sea scorpions that were as large as humans. Also, another scorpion was called a water scorpion and that is known to have branched off 340 million years ago. Today, there are many theories as to why scorpions changed, but none are correct.
